Suddenly appears Spaceship Alpha, from the asteroid Eros! The people of the Maiyan Asteroid didn't know Eros was colonized, but it was, by China, partly as a resort, after finding no iridium to mine. It has other, illicit purposes.
Newlyweds Rudan and Addis Kahn honeymoon there, and discover it's an elaborate deathtrap for them. They barely escape.
The Maiyan Nation discovers that China found some iridium in a passing asteroid and is building four PHOX spaceships on Hainan Island. The ships could attack Maiya successfully and steal enough iridium to build a fleet. Alternately, with the massive speed and range PHOX allows, they could mine other asteroids for iridium. In any case, they and the New Californias could dominage Earth.
Maiya cannot allow that to happen, so they mount a lightning raid on Hainan Island, intending to destroy those ships.
Almost aimultaneously, they raid North Korea, to recapture the traitor Dereck Haas., with mixed results The North Korean leader has dangled Haas as bait to win Rudan's fabled Manchurian Kris for her national collection of swords. The Kris can only change hands in combat.
There are many surprising twists at the end.
